Development cooperation - is this the way to go?

Dear Members,
Development cooperation is an arena to enhance International Cooperation.
However, today it the focus of controversy and criticism. Many people from the developing world believe that it serves the interest of wealthy nations, and that its methods of operation are unfair to developing countries(For any countries to obtain financial assistance must fulfill difficult conditions).Part of the protest against development cooperation is a deep concern about a growing trend of globalization.
Globalization is the increasing economic interdependence of the countries of the world because of international trade, foreign investment, and the widespread use of new technologies.
Those in favor of globalization believe that:
1.Development cooperation offers developing countries the best chance to lift themselves out of poverty.
2.Increased economic competition encourages countries to specialize at what the do best, based on their resources. This leads to more efficient businesses and industries.
3.Consumers benefit because of more choices and better prices.
But others believe that development cooperation:
* Gives too much power to wealthy multinational corporations, and weakens the authority of governments and organizations like United Nations.
* Helps rich countries get richer, but does little for the poor.
* Cannot serve developing countries with limited resources, unstable governments, and few industries.
* Causes unemployment because of increased competition.
* Promotes a system in which profit comes before human rights, the environment and people's needs.
It is difficult to think a complex issue like development cooperation without some help, thanks to NCDO for great efforts.
For me, this means asking questions that are based on our personalities!?
1.Does development cooperation serve the poor?
2.Does it contribute to common good?
3.Is it a force for more just world?
4.Does it protect the earth and its resources from exploitation?
With development cooperation loving organizations like the NCDO, Development cooperation has become a major reorganization of the world economy with consequences that we are just beginning to understand. We are all invited to share with others my opinions highlighted above.Feel welcome to comment.
Kind regards,
