International Day of Peace Celebration in the Philippines

As a response to the United Nation’s mandate to celebrate the International Day of Peace, MasterPeace Club-The Philippines organized three innovative and peace-related activities on September 21, 2011 and are dubbed as: ReciPeace, RocKalinaw, and Peaceturesque. Firstly in ReciPeace, peace was promoted through students’ innovation of international recipes which revolve around the dual theme of peace and nutrition. Secondly, to augment the theatre skills (i.e., singing, acting and dancing) of young people and considering their vulnerable attention and its tremendous interest on music, a peace concert dubbed as RocKalinaw is conceived. Thirdly, Peaceturesque featured photos taken by the students that send messages about peace and unity, especially taken from the grassroots society.

MasterPeace Club-The Philippines is a branch of MasterPeace initiative in Cairo, Egypt. Ilco, the founder of the organization, had a personal meeting with me during the Peace Week 2011 sponsored by the NCDO-Voiceover 2015 in the Netherlands last September 2010.

Peace is not just the absence of war. It is also the absence of cultural biases and the presence of unity despite culture diversity
