04-01-2012 10:57 Celebarting Christmas Although it is such a popular event the world over, Christmas is not popular in our village. This could be attributed to the strong cultural practices and believes as well as high illiteracy levels. Only the local churches organize Christmas celebrations and few people attend. The early European missionaries introduced Christianity more than 100 years ago but it has not taken a lot of root in this rural community. We spend our Christmas holidays in cultural ceremonies where girls and boys are circumcised with lots of meat and traditional beer available. How do you celebrate this great day in your area? Works directly with rural communities for empowerment, livelihood improvement, Peace, Promoting culture and Cultural tourism
