my motivation to participate : I believe that when good people keep quiet, bad things eventually happen to good people.VoiceOver2015 offers me the opportunity to team up with other world citizens, so we can improve our common human experience through our diverse expertise. My personal interest is in children and youth empowerment through information technology. Most young people in developing countries have access to the internet and/or have mobile phones. Used properly, I believe these two I.T assets can be used to improve the life and chances of most of the developing world‘s youth.
what I want to work on : + Education
what I want to work on more specific : I am interested in helping young people in developing countries exploit the information technology that is already available to them as tools for personal, social and economic development. Used properly, the internet and mobile telephony can easily compensate for the poor quality of education most children in developing countries receive. How do you make young people see that they can have access to the best education in the world by going to the internet cafe next door? Or they can use their mobile phones to create high quality news?
my personal slogan : Almost every teenager in Africa has a mobile phone. Most of them have camera phones. I am in charge of training disadvantaged young people across West Africa, on how to use their phones to improve their world. We teach them how to make web-quality videos, how to write news stories and how to upload them online so the whole world can share in their experiences. Those who make it unto this program successfully receive a camera phone and a monthly allowance of $175. Those who excel get opportunities to string for other international and credible media houses.
